The Anglican Church of St Mary the Virgin has been an integral part of the Addington community in Christchurch City, New Zealand since 1867. It graces the tree-filled space in the centre of Church Square.
Future Services inside the Church(see below) have been cancelled due to the Covid upgrade and the need to protect each other and ourselves.We will resume church services and activities when it is safe to do so.
We hold a regular Eucharist service every Sunday at 10.30am (was 10am). Once every month (fourth Sunday) we have a parish meeting and shared meal following the service. As from Friday 1st February, 2019 the church will be open on Friday’s for “tea, coffee, conversation’ at 10am followed by Midday Prayer for those that would like to stay or come-along.
Thank you to all the people who helped to make the 2019 Addington Fun Fair and Concert such a successful event. The date for the 2020 Fair will be Saturday 21st November(11am till 3pm) so would appreciate if you could enter this listing in your diary.
We regularly hold both Centering Prayer and Taize services at 7pm(for dates please check events column).
